blog #8 assigment #3

My cousins decided to go the same way people were going, but I decided to listen to the man and try to get there faster .It was a different road and I was going to go by myself, it was hard to walk because as I went dipper it became more like a forest. I kept walking about 2 hours and couldn’t find an exit; I felt I was trap in a maze. When finally I got tired I found out where I was and my adventure began. I was on the top of the mountain, very high up that I saw the houses and people miniature. I could hear the echoes of my cousins screaming my name telling me to get down as soon as possible because that place was dangers. This is a little bit of my personal memoir, what inspired me to write this was that this story is always on my mind. This took place when I was at the age of 13 years old and as I remember this adventure sometimes I laugh at it. There are times that I realize how dangerous was and how I exposed myself.  To understand this piece is that this didn’t happen here it took place in Ecuador. Also it was at a early age and people in Ecuador are different. As an example the place that I was in it was a mountain and only people not civilized live there. Even though I wanted a police officer there it was impossible they could have rescued me. I am writing in a perspective of knowing the land and what happen to me. I did revise this paper reading it aloud but it seems to be harder to catch the mistakes that one makes. I think this piece of writing was easier it help me get to my point and I would considerate using it for my final project.

Blog #7 Midterm

Creative writing has become interesting and it’s likeable because you get to choose what you are most comfortable writing with. One of the things that you are allowed to do is used your imagination and express yourself in a piece of paper. Over the first few assignments it has been helpful to write because in my opinion it has helped me with my grammar. I have gone to the writing center which has been helpful. Another thing that I liked about creative writing is that you express yourself and from what we have done in class it’s easier to share personal stories.  I should say that this class has been different from other English classes because the writing part is easier. I mean you don’t have to research anything just feel free and write what you are comfortable with. You can write about experiences or personal stuff not like in other classes is just research or hard thinking. What we have done such as, writing about a place or your own personal memoir catches me in keep writing nonstop. For my own perspective this style of writing it has been easier which I am allow to use my imagination.

Blog #6 Writing about a place

The river has one of the most perfect views that I have ever seen, next to the river the grass is neat and its greenish color makes it look like a paradise. The little cascade at the end it gives you a touch of how nature can be beautiful. The flowers are neat and precious, the fallen petals make it more attractive. What inspired me to write about this place is that it was one of my favorite when I was growing up. When I go back in my imagination to this place it brings me memories of my childhood. When I was like seven years old I used to run to that place every single day. I found myself connected to nature you could also see the bright sun coming down; a sunset at that time was precious. I didn’t find myself including any dialogue because it was more a descriptive place and I did add dialogue when I used to go and hang out with my friends.  I thought it was a good idea to add any kind of dialogue, what I try doing was getting words that the reader could actually picture how this place is. Since it is not here, the place is located in another country most of them wouldn’t know what I am talking about. I try to put myself in the shoes of the reader and try to imagine how this place can be described so the reader could understand. I did revise my paper by proof reading it and using the spell check. Also what is good it trying to reading it aloud so you can analyze if it makes sense.

Blog #5: Response to a personal Memoir

Blog Assignment #5: Responding to a Personal Memoir
Abracadabra by Sharon Solwitz has a very touching feeling in its unique way of writing. Abracadabra is about two twins that after the years went by one of the twins died. The child got sick and the author reveals the tragedy by combining it with magic hoping the child will survive. The author reveals the emotions of how she felt losing a child and her thought of saying the word abracadabra to have the child back in life.  In her story the style of writing is very different from other authors because in her writing she gives advices and breaks things up as her memory goes.  At the end of the story she tells a little anecdote about her child and what happen the last day of his life.  The story begins with her child playing soccer and from that moment on the child wasn’t feeling that good and they rush to the hospital.  “I’m not afraid. Abracadabra. Open Sesame. I want him back in my house, in his room, at the table eating food I’ve cooked, fighting with his brother, talking on the phone, drawing his teddy bear pictures. Doing his homework or not doing it, even playing video games, which I discouraged, or upstairs asleep behind the protective wall of his stuffed animals” (Solwitz 682).  The author by using abracadabra makes us view how she hopes everything is from a mind of a child perspective and try to bring his son back to life.

BLog #4: Writing on a Photograph

Blog Assignment #4: Writing on a Photograph.
The image that I choose is one of Edward Kelty’s Photos of Circus People. The picture is black and white and shows different kinds of person in their own style. Since it is a circus it varies the people that are in the picture it makes it funnier.  The persons in the picture are weird maybe that is why the picture is more attractive. There are twins, the fattest lady, the tallest man, short people and some other weird funny people. They are wearing clothes that make them more attractive and weird such as feathers on their heads, long suits, etc. I believe there are people that try to find a home in the circus and in appreciation of their home, food they make people laugh. It is important to the photographer because he tries to portray emotions through the picture. The relationship can be the owner of the circus trying to reveal the emotions of how they always have to be happy to make people laugh. In the picture they look confident of themselves. I think by looking at the picture one gets the different people we have in the picture.

Blog #3 "Authors Note" the Non Fiction Vignette

Blog Assignment # 4
That night the room was cold and I felt a silence that was unexplainable, in my head I kept looking at the door lying to myself that we will come so it doesn't hurt anymore but the reality was that he will never cross that door again. He left, God took him and he is not coming back never again. I felt into a depression and every night I would play our song, smoke a cigarette, look at the pictures and read his love letter he wrote. I knew I was killing myself doing this by remembering the memories that had once were the happiest moments of my life but nobody could understood how it hurts. When I talk to his mom I understand why she was crying that day, she felt something in her heart as a mother would, but we never imagine it was his son’s death. I will never forget his words, “If you miss me look up in the sky and if you see the full moon that’s me” and that’s what I do every time there’s a full moon I know it’s him.
What inspired me to write nonfiction story is that you can relate to your feelings and it’s easier to write. When you know something hurts and the only way for you to express your feeling is through a paper it comes to be a good vignette. For my final paper I think I can add more details and try not to be so sentimental. I thing that I have written short stories before but I don’t remember, how I try to revised my paper with someone reading it for me so they could catch mistakes on it.
